2022 Ford Bronco
The Ford Bronco offers the perfect blend of nostalgic design and modern amenities. This off-roader is capable of tackling the roughest terrain you can throw at it, but it still provides a civil on-road ride. The 2022 is the second model year for the Bronco, and it arrives with a new Everglades trim. Also new for 2022, the Wildtrak has a new Hoss 3.0 package.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Base Bronco has 16-inch steel wheels, tow hooks, LED headlights, and either a hard or soft top. The Big Bend adds LED foglights, a unique grille, 17-inch alloy wheels, and 32-inch all-terrain tires. Up next in the lineup, the Black Diamond has skid plates, a black grille, rock rails, heavy-duty bumpers, and black-painted wheels. Choose the Outer Banks for side step rails, upgraded LED headlights, and body-colored painted door handles, or select the Badlands for a unique suspension. The Wildtrak has mud-terrain tires, and the Bronco lineup continues with the new Everglades and the Raptor.
Ford offers several packages for the Bronco, including the Sasquatch Package and the Mid Package.
Interior
Inside, there's room for up to five in the four-door Bronco. The cabin has washable surfaces, and some trims even have rubberized floors with drain plugs. Cloth upholstery comes in the base, along with power windows and push-button start. The Big Bend has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and this trim comes with extra grab handles mounted on the passenger side of the center console. Ford offers packages with even more features, such as heated front seats, ambient lighting, and a heated steering wheel. Technology features include an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and satellite radio. Adding the High Package gets you a 12-inch touch screen, and the Lux Package comes with navigation, a 10-speaker stereo system, and wireless charging.
Performance
The Bronco is an impressive off-road SUV. It has a low crawling gear to help it navigate over rough terrain, and the new Raptor trim has seven driving modes, including a Baja mode that will minimize turbo lag, helping it power through deep sand. A new tow-haul mode allows the Bronco to tow up to 4,500 pounds, which is 1,000 more than the base trim.
Engine (Power)
The Bronco's base powertrain is a 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower, but you can opt for a 2.7-liter turbo V-6 that puts out 330 horsepower. The Raptor gets power from a 3.0-liter turbo engine with over 400 horsepower.
Safety Features
All Bronco models come with a long list of standard safety systems. Even the base has hill start assist, automatic emergency braking, trail turn assist to help the Bronco make tight turns when driving off-road, and hill descent control. The Mid Package adds rear parking sensors, a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keep assist, and adding the High Package gets you front parking sensors and a 360-degree surround-view camera system. You can get evasive steering assist if you opt for the Lux Package, and this also adds adaptive cruise control.
